Lesson 2: Traditional Printing and Publishing Techniques
Task 1
You will carry out 2 mini-investigations into screen printing and laser printing techniques.
Hand: Screen Printing
- a) Watch the screen printing stencil technique tutorial from YouTube. Explain in your own words how to do screen printing.
b) Find and print 2-3 examples of prints by Andy Warhol that make use of this screen-printing process. Make a note of what you like/dislike about them.
Digital Printing: Laser Copying
a) CLICK HERE to download the power-point. Briefly summarise what you have found out.
b) Use the laser printing handout from Morvelisa to direct the next stage of your investigation.
Task 2
Complete the Printing and Publishing Table. Use the notes you have made to help you. CLICK HERE to download it.
Task 3
Write a summary explaining the advantages and disadvantages of each printing technique you have explored in relation to the process and/or the print product. Your explanation should consider the following factors:
- Portability
- Convenience
- Quality
- Cost
- Updating information
- Audience Reach

Through this assignment you will research publishing products and develop your own technical skills. This will be done in order to plan, produce and evaluate your own publishing product, which in this case will be a film poster. Your poster will promote your own film idea, linked to the radio advert you will produce with David for the Audio assignment.
