Example of an Interative Digital Collage

To make create this collage I had used photoshop. considering that I have used photoshop in the past, I am quite familiar with the tools. For example, I had used the magic wand tool to cut away the unnecessary white parts of a photo. I had also changed the size of the all the photos, by selecting a layer and then going onto edit and then clicking on transform. Transform makes it able for you to change the size and perspective of the image. from then I had clicked onto scale and then was able to enlarge/ shorten the image. I even changed the colour of some of the photos. I did this by selecting a layer which had a photo in it, then I had clicked onto image then adjust and clicked on hue/saturation. after clicking onto it I was then able to change the hue and saturation of the photo of my choice.

In some photos, I had changed the perspective of it to make it look as if it was an original image of my choice.

Lesson 5:  Digital Collage

Create an A4 collage in Photoshop on the subject of ‘All About Me’ (file name) related to you and things that you like.  This should include words, images (found/original) graphics and colours and a link to a music video featuring your favourite artist/group.

Task 1:
You will first need to generate, source and import a range of digital images from the internet that can be used in your collage.  Ensure that any original or scanned materials are appropriately transferred and uploaded to your drive in JPEG format for use in Photoshop.

Task 2:
Begin experimenting with digital tools to produce your digital collage.  Areas for exploration include:
·       Scaling e.g. adjusting size of images
·       Cropping to remove unwanted elements
·       Colour Correction
·       Page layout
·       Image manipulation
·       Editing and placement of text
·       Placement of graphics and images

·       Style of text

   Task 3:
Save your completed collage in JPEG format on your drive and back up on an external device such as your memory stick or external hard-drive.

  Task 4
Upload your completed collage to your blog.  Make your collage into an interactive button by adding a link to your favourite music video.  CLICK HERE for step-by-step instructions.

Lesson 4: Traditional Publishing Vs. Digital Publishing Evaluation

You will need to evaluate the potential advantages of using digital publishing compared with traditional publishing methods.  You must ensure that you make detailed references to examples from your research findings and traditional/digital publishing handout.  Your responses can take the form of an illustrated report (400-500 words), video diary or audio-visual presentation (5-minutes) and must cover the following:

Introduction:
  •        Examples of digitally published products
  •        How digital products are used by audiences
  •        Where they can be accessed

Case Study 1:
  • Title of Traditionally Published Print Product
  • Features
  • Interactive Elements

Case Study 2:
  • Title of Digitally Published Print Product
  • Features, including video/audio elements
  • Interactive Elements

Comparison:
  •        What are the similarities and differences between both versions?
  •     What are the reasons for this?  (Consider audience, access, information, size, price, layout etc.)
  •     Explain the advantages and disadvantages of digitally published versions (Consider, ease of use, updating information, portability and effectiveness)
  •     Explain the advantages and disadvantages of traditionally published versions (Consider, ease of use, updating information, portability and effectiveness)

Conclusion:

  •       Explain how digital technology has allowed for a wider audience reach
